UPDATE ON OUTBREAK OF BIRD FLU

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture says it is investigating cases of Avian Influenza popularly known as
Birds flu in the country.

The H5 series of Avian Influenza was first reported on the 24th of March this year in Kano, Bauchi and Plateau states and later spread to Gombe, Nasarawa, Kaduna and Niger.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease control says Eighty-three samples tested out of which seven were positive.

A Health National Rapid Response Team (RRT) from NCDC and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture have been deployed to Bauchi, Kano and Plateau States for further investigations.
