UPDATE ON GOVERNMENT GIRLS SCIENCE SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS ABDUCTION

The Zamfara State Police Command has commenced a joint operation with the with a view to rescuing the 317 students kidnapped by the armed bandits at Government Girls Science Secondary School Jangebe in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of the State, early this morning.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Command Public Relations Officer, Supretendant of Police Shehu Muhammad.

According to the Statement, Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, the Force Commander Operations Hadarin Daji, Major General Aminu Bande and the Brigade Commander, 1 Brigade, Nigerian Army Headquarters, Gusau as well as some officials of the state government have led a heavily armed Re – enforcement team to Jangebe to complement the ongoing rescue operation in the locations where the students are believed to have been taken to.

The Commissioner of Police was earlier at the scene of the incident where he had an interface with the Principal of the school and parents of the abducted students.

He appealed to them to be calm expressing optimism that the joint efforts of the Police and other security agencies will lead to the successful rescue of the students, soonest.
