SENATE PRESIDENT STANDS ON CONSTITUTIONAL TERMS FOR PRESIDENT

The Office of the President of the Senate says it  has noted a tweet by one Mayor attributing a fabricated statement to the president of the Senate  Ahmad Lawan.

A statement by the special adviser to the President of the Senate on media and publicity Ola Awoniyi  describes the tweet  mischievous where  the  President of the Senate was quoted as saying he “won’t mind a constitutional amendment to allow unlimited term of office for President Buhari if he wishes to remain in office beyond 2023.”
The statement  stated categorically that  the  President of the Senate has never made such statement, before or after 2019.  


It says the  Senate President stands by the well-considered and roundly appreciated provision of the Constitution on the issue and will never subscribe to any move to amend it.
