The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Abdulrasheed Bawa as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

During the screening exercise the nominee promised to ensure transparency, accountability, digitalisation of operations and to curtail the use of discretion from the office of the Chairman.

Abdulrasheed Bawa is to take over from Mohammed Umar Abba, who was appointed Acting Chairman by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2020 following the suspension of Ibrahim Magu.

The 8th Senate had twice in two separate occasions in 2016 and 2017 rejected the confirmation of Magu.

Senate also confirmed the nomination of the appointment of Larry Obinna Collins Chukwu for appointment as Commissioner for the Nigerian Law Reform Commisssion.
