POLICE ARREST OF IPOB/ ESN MEMBERS THAT ATTACKED OMUMA AND NJABA POLICE STATIONS IN IMO STATE

Sequel to the repelled attack on Omuma and Njaba Police Stations in Imo state, which resulted in the killing of a Divisional Police Officer, the Imo state police Command has arrested one Emmanuel Nnaji, an IPOB member.

On interrogation by the command’s tactical teams, the suspect gave useful information on the location of a hotel in Orlu local government area, used by members of the group for criminal activities, including attacks on police stations in the state, as well as the beheading of a young man, whose head was later placed on the road close to the hotel premises.

A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Micheal Abatam, indicates that the suspect further disclosed that, the owner of the Hotel provides them with accommodation and finances their activities.

A visit to the hotel according to him, resulted in the arrest of twenty six suspects including seven females and other items including, one AK 47 riffle, five pump action riffles, four double barrel locally made pistle, eight live cartridges, a sign board with Biafra insignia, among other items.

Presently, investigation is ongoing and the suspects are undergoing interrogation.

While referring to the cases of violence in Orlu, the PPRO noted the arrest of one Boniface Okeke aged 57, who was linked to terrorism, financing of IPOB activities while he was outside the country, and attacks on security agencies as well as killing of officers.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command , Abutu Yaro, while commending the people of Orlu and Imo State in general , appealed for calm as security agencies are doing everything possible to sustain the already improved peace in state.
