Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi has condemned in strong terms, the unprovoked attacks on Police headquarters in Owerri, Imo state and correctional center on Monday night, leading to escape of inmates.
The Minister described the highly reprehensible attacks as an act of terrorism and a declaration of hostility against the Nigerian state.
He therefore called on leaders in the South East region and Nigeria, to speak up against the simile manifestation of terrorism in the region to prevent it from snowballing into full scale crisis.
Muhammad Dingyadi, applauds the deployment of critical policing assets to Imo state, to unravel the proponents of the dastardly attacks irrespective of their nomenclature, and bring them to justice.
He added that, the measures put in place by the Inspector General of Police, will be extended to the entire South East region, and its contiguous states in the South South, and North central, to neutralize criminal elements threatening the region.
The Minister enjoins residents of South East, to cooperate with the police and other security agencies by exposing these enemies of the people who are hell bent on destroying lives, commerce and hard earned local and foreign investments in the region.
