The leadership of the Pople’s Democratic Party, PDP is requesting for the immediate setting up of an independent judicial panel to look into the handling of the peaceful protest hijacked by hoodlums especially as it relates to the role of security agencies.

The party’s national chairman Prince Uche Secondus at a media briefing in Abuja recalled that For nearly two weeks, Nigeria youth have been revolting through a peaceful protest against Police brutality as mirrored by a unit of the Nigeria Police force called the Special Anti-Robbery Squad more known as SARS.

The Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu he explained swiftly responded to the youth outcry by disbanding the notorious SARS, replacing it with SWAT, an action that did not go down well with protesters who demanded instead the total and unconditional overhaul of the entire nation’s security architecture.

Secondus however condemned the hijack of the peaceful protest by miscreants which later led to the alleged loss of lives at the lekki toll gate in Lagos.
