OPEC SECRETARY GENERAL MOHAMMAD SANUSI BARKINDO HAS ANNOUNCED, THE POSTPONEMENT OF THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS OF OPEC SLATED TO HOLD THIRTH OF SEPTEMBER IN AL-SHAAB HALL IN BAGHDAD WHERE OPEC WAS BIRTHED

OPEC Secretary General said though the Government of Iraq had agreed to host OPEC’s 60th Anniversary celebrations on 30 September 2021 at the Al-Shaab Hall in Baghdad.
He received a letter from Ihsan Abdul Jabbar Ismaael, Minister of Oil of Iraq, announcing the postponement of the scheduled celebrations. According to him It was a difficult decision for Iraq, given its eagerness to welcome all OPEC Members, Ministers and delegations, as well as other producers in the Declaration of Cooperation (DoC), to Baghdad, where OPEC was created at the ‘Baghdad Conference’ on 14 September 1960.
Ismaael says his country remains ready and willing and able to host an anniversary event, having completed all the necessary arrangements, this will now however take place in the first quarter of 2022.
The OPEC Secretariat the Secretary General says will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Oil of Iraq to assure all the necessary logistical and preparatory requirements are arranged.
While soliciting the understanding of member nations for the postponement
OPEC Secretary General says OPEC looks forward to seeing all in Iraq in early 2022.
