Students under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), South West zone, have blocked the road leading to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, in continuation of their ongoing protest against the strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The students who were blocked by security operatives from gaining access to the airport took over the road, preventing traffic flow both inward and outward the airport.
The rain did not deter them as they sang and danced on the road, creating gridlock on the busy road.
The students in their hundreds, demanded an immediate end to the strike, now in its seventh month, urging government to meet the demands of the striking lecturers to enable them to return to class.
While commending the personnel of the Nigeria police for providing security for the protesters, the students however vowed to continue the protest on the airport road until their demands are met by the federal government.
