The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao has constituted a Committee of serving and retired senior officers to conduct a safety audit of all Nigerian Air Force operational and engineering units.
In a statement by NAF Director Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabwet, the Committee is to be chaired by the Deputy Theatre Commander, Operation HADIN KAI, Air Vice Marshal Abraham Adole and will among other terms of reference, analyse safety reports, conduct safety evaluation of NAF units and recommend measures to enhance operations safety in the units.
The NAF says the audit is a routine part of its operations to maintain and improve safety standards with the last one performed in January 2021.
The forthcoming safety audit follows the air crash of two 350i KingAir beechcrafts in february and May this year which claimed the lives of the chief of army staff and other officers and men of the army and air force as well as a missing alpha jet, NAF 475 which went off radar on march 31, 2021. Meanwhile, the Committee is to submit its report not later than 18 June 2021.
