Sergey Schmolik is a former Belarusian FIFA-listed referee who served from 1993 to 2008. He had a solid reputation and was even voted best referee in Belarus in 2007.

However, in July 2008, he started acting funny during a league match between Vitebsk and Naftan in the Belarusian Premier League.

At a point, he seemed to have a back injury, as he couldn’t move around properly.

But he soon started to make strange gestures and randomly blow his whistle- and everyone realized it was more than just an injury.

At a point, he stopped moving around and was officiating the match from the centre circle.

Shmolik was escorted off the pitch by an official and after the match, a hospital test revealed that he had a high blood-alcohol level.

He was consequently banned from refereeing for life.
