Federal Government says it will continue to engage best educationists and other endeavors towards repositioning Nigerian universities with the aim of driving the country’s inevitable transition to a knowledge based economy.
This was at the inauguration of governing councils of five universities.
The newly inaugurated councils were challenged to bring their experience to bear in the country’s quest for rapid development and resuscitate the universities so they can fulfill their mandate of providing quality teaching, research and community service.
It will be recalled that the federal Government dissolved councils of universities of Lagos, Portharcourt, Ibadan and maritime universities arising from their inability to discharge their duties accordingly.
