Federal Government says goal delivery machinery has been put in place to monitor performance of key players across the value chain of the power sector to ensure electricity customers get value for their money.
A statement by the Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu, states that issues of policy, capacity and the technical requirement of the Generation and Distribution Companies will be critical examined to ensure that their performance is not below expectation.
While Federal Government says the Electric Power Sector Reform Act of 2005 is quite revolutionary, it is working on its full implementation to justify huge investment in the sector by the present administration for improved electricity supply.
With determination to addressing some policy issues, legal and regulatory bottlenecks as well as human factors involved in the implementation and coordination of the power sector road map, Federal Government expresses optimism on the viability of the sector to deliver adequate electricity to Nigerians.
This is in addition to other opportunities being explored in the short term to deliver the much desired quick wins while focusing on the long-term objectives of increasing supply, attracting the much needed investment, promote efficiency, competition and growth as well as ensuring transparency and accountability in the value chain of the Power sector.
