The Etubom’s council of the Obong of Calabar Palace has concluded the traditional process and proclaimed a new Obong of Calabar
He is Etubom Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu
The development is in line with the provisions of the constitution of the Etubom’s council 2002 and as demanded by the 13th January,2023 judgement of the supreme court for a fresh selection process to be undertaken.
A statement signed by the chairman of the Obong of Calabar Etubom’s conclave-Kingmakers, His Royal highness, Etubom Ntiero Edem Offiong Effiwatt and Secretary, His Royal highness Edem Ita Essien Ededem indicates that the swift traditional process of nomination is as energized by the Western Calabar-Atai Iboku group of houses prompt response, selection and communication of the nominee to the Conclave and that with this development the Etubom’s conclave therefore proclaim Etubom Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu as the confirm Obong of Calabar with effect from 18th January,2023
