The U.S. Has expressed strong support for the candidacy of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as the next Director General of the World Trade Organisation.
This followed the withdrawal of Yoo Myung-Hee Trade Minister of South Korea for the job.
In a tweet by the office of the United States Trade representative, the us said she will bring a wealth of knowledge and trade experience, to the World Trade body and and that the United States looks forward to working with her.
Consequently Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is set to become the first woman and first African to head the World Trade Organisation.
The sole candidate, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala also tweeted that, she is grateful for the expression of support from the United State for the position,
Dr. Okonjo-Iweala congratulated Mrs. Yoo Myung-Hee of Republic Korea for a hard fought campaign expressing a special thank you to President Muhammadu Buhari, friends, family and all Nigerians for their unflinching support and ultimately gave glory to God Almighty.
