COUNTER TERRORISM: ARMY DEBUNKS REPORT OF TROOPS DESERTION

The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a publication alleging the desertion about a 100 Nigerian troops after Boko Haram attacks on Marte and Dikwa in Borno state.

A statement by the Director Army Public Relations Brigadier General Muhammad Yerima says, the publication is false stressing that, in the fog of war, head count is a routine exercise conducted to determine the number of men and equipment holding aftermath of military offensive engagement.

The statement expressed dismay that, an internal correspondence that originated by the formation was not properly done and was later discovered that a good number of those affected personnel rejoined their respective units and are currently part of the ongoing clearance operations.

currently clearing areas infiltrated by Boko Haram terrorists/ISWAP
