Armand Duplantis produced the highest ever outdoors jump in the pole vault as he cleared 6.15m at the Diamond League meeting in Rome.
His latest effort at overhauling the oldest men’s track record on the books means he has registered four of the event’s 10 all-time best performances during this shortened and disrupted season.
Since 2000, the world record can be set in facilities “with or without roof”.
The previous highest outdoor jump was Sergey Bubka’s 6.14m in 1994.
The final Diamond League meeting of the season takes place in Doha on Friday, 25 September.
